ObjectiveTo compare the clinical efficacy of percutaneous kyphoplasty (PKP) and percutaneous vertebroplasty (PVP) in patients with osteoporotic vertebral fractures.MethodsForty patients with osteoporotic vertebral fractures were treated in People′s Hospital of Jiaozhou from February 2010 to March 2013,of which the control group of twenty cases was treated by PVP surgical treatment, while the observation group of twenty patients was treated by PKP treatment.ResultsSix months after surgery,VAS score, vertebral height and Cobb angle in the observation group were (1.32±0.69),(1.93±0.25)cm and (16.43±5.23)°respectively,which were all improved than those in the control group[(3.13±0.99),(1.67±0.23)cm,(21.09±5.68)°],and the differences between the two groups were statistically significant(t=2.74,2.94,3.11;P<0.05). ConclusionsPKP has very important effect on the treatment of osteoporotic fractures, not only effectively alleviating the degree of pain in elderly patients with osteoporosis, but also benefiting vertebral height restoration and kyphosis correction, promoting the recovery prognosis of patients. The treatment effect of PKP is superior to PVP,and it is worth of clinical application.
